Macao Institute of Green and Net-Zero Technology
OVERVIEW
A Green & Net-Zero Research Platform for Macao & Greater Bay Area
Grounded in engineering technology and interdisciplinary collaboration, the Macao Institute of Green and Net-Zero Technology focuses on green and low-carbon development, net-zero innovation, and carbon-neutral campus initiatives to advance scientific research, talent cultivation, technology transfer, and social service.

Background
Against the backdrop of accelerating global climate governance and the implementation of China's "dual carbon" strategy, green and low-carbon development has become a pivotal direction for technological innovation, urban governance, industrial transformation, and higher education. Higher education institutions play a vital role in net-zero technology R&D, low-carbon education, standard setting, and social services.
In September 2024, Macau University of Science and Technology became the first university in Macao to commit to a carbon neutrality target, building strong foundations in greenhouse gas accounting, sustainable campus construction, green building assessment, and smart zero-carbon campus development. The Institute integrates these resources into a dedicated research, education, and translation platform.

MIGNT Positioning
Operating under the Faculty of Innovation Engineering, the MIGNT serves the green, low-carbon, and net-zero technology needs of Macao and the Greater Bay Area as a comprehensive academic and research platform.
The MIGNT collaborates with existing faculties, research centers, and administrative departments across the university, concentrating on engineering technology support, interdisciplinary research, talent development, policy and standards advice, and real-world technology validation within green campus scenarios.
